On Sunday, 21 April, the Sunday of Saint Mary of Egypt, His Eminence Archbishop Sergios visited the Church of Saint Mary of Egypt near Robertson. His Eminence served the Divine Liturgy which was followed by an Akathist to Saint Mary of Egypt. Addressing the congregation afterwards, His Eminence said how pleased he was to visit this place of prayer and silence and to see the progress in the parish, and particularly the presence of the children. He noted that three languages had been used during the Divine Liturgy: Greek which connects us to the Tradition of the Church, Afrikaans which is the language of the local people, and English which is the necessary language of communication. His Eminence expressed the hope that the Church in this place would continue to grow, both in terms of numbers, but, more importantly, in terms of the quality of our faith and life.
After the service there was coffee and then we all went into Robertson where we had a wonderful dinner provided by the Joannou family.
