ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΤΕΛΕΤΗ ΡΙΨΗΣ ΤΟΥ ΤΙΜΙΟΥ ΣΤΑΥΡΟΥ ΚΑΙ ΤΟΥ ΑΓΙΑΣΜΟΥ ΤΩΝ ΥΔΑΤΩΝ, ΣΤΗΝ ΟΙΚΙΑ ΤΗΣ ΚΥΡΙΑΣ ΣΤΕΛΛΑΣ ΧΡΥΣΟΜΑΛΛΟΣ
The Very Reverend Archimandrite Fr. Evlogios Santonellos – Service of the Sanctfication of the Waters
With the Grace of God and the protection of the Holy Archangels, the Hellenic Community of the Southern Cape celebrated the Baptism of our Lord on Monday 6 January. After the Divine Liturgy, The Very Reverend Archimandrite Fr. Evlogios Antonellos officiated at the Service of the Great Holy Water. After the Service, he explained to the congregation the meaning of the Baptism of Christ and the reveal (appearance) of the Holy Trinity (Theo-phania).
At midday the Community gathered at the house of Mrs Stella Chrysomallos for the service of the Sanctification of Waters and the throwing of the Holy Cross. Young children of our Community dived to catch the Cross. The Holy Cross was caught by Michael Engelbreght, and he received an Icon of The Panaghia, the Holy Mother of God from Fr. Evlogios.
Although it had rained non-stop from the previous day, as soon as the Service started miraculously the rain stopped - not a single drop. Immediately after the Service was over, it started to rain again. The heavens respected the blessing the waters!
